Blogs from Students
Ok, guys here are the instructions:
step 1) you read
step 2) post here what God is showing you in your reading
step 3) repeat
Pretty simple huh? Well then get busy a reading and a posting. If you are going on Freak Week (leadership trip) you should be reading Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
wooo 200th comment ok so im finishin john…tonight.at the end of John 16 Jesus prepares the disciples for when he leaves and assures them that he will be there for them and they will always make it through things…my favorite verse John 16-33 “I have told you all these things, so that in me you will have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” still after reading this so many times i cannot tell what Pilate was thinking if he was mocking Jesus or trying to be a just person but I still cannot see why noone stood up for Jesus maybe one of his disciples were there. in one of my last blogs i said that Jesus didnt take disciples with him because someone had to spread his word, in the last chapter of John it is told to us that Peter is going to be Jesus’s shepherd and he is leaving him behind to take care of Jesus’s followers and feed the sheep that need to be fed or need to hear God’s word and be saved, that would be an amazing but pretty big responsibility. But this task wasnt just for Peter its for all of Jesus’s followers, Peter’s gone and were here so now its out turn to be shepherd to God’s sheep
AWWWWWW im 201 BOOOOOOOO
Ok so I am now officially done!!! This experience has been amazing. Before this I tried to read a chapter a night but most nights I forgot or just didn’t feel like it. At the beginning of this I was doing good on reading but then I started to get lazy thankfully I got back on track and started to read 1-5 chapters a night, which really strengthened my relationship with the Lord!!!!! yay. Now I am going to continue to read every night!
So i guess I should start blogging now lol :p
I really like this because it is a reminder to me when I am going through hard times that God is there for me and that Jesus has overcome the world so through him so can we!!!!

Its kinda sad lol well im super duper excited for the trip and everything else God has in store for me this summer!!!!!! I can’t wait this trip is going to change so many lives not only the people going on it but also those peoples oikos’
John 14:6-7 Jesus says that he is the way the truth and the light. None can get to the father except through him! I really like this cause it just shows how important Jesus is and how we can’t get to heaven with out him!
John 16:33 I totally LOVE this verse. Jesus said that we will have troubles in this world but take heart I has overcome the world!!!!
John 17: 20-33 In these verses it talked about how the christians haven’t really impressed the world with all the bickering and fighting over the minor things. We are supposed to be an example for the non believers (just like it says in 1Timothy 4:12). We say that Christianity is better and all kinds of stuff, well if we are fighting all the time who would think that is better or want to be apart of it. Jesus prayed for us to unite and become one. This is exactly what we should be doing. This will impress the world sooooo much more!!!!
John 21:12 ok i have a question. Who eats fish for breakfast????? lol
John 21:18 This is kind of saying how before we know Christ we do our own thing and what we want to do not what God wants us to do, but after we come to know him we serve others and ask God what HE wants from and for us!!!
Well im all done
John 15
I love working for goals and being able to see progress. I am very competitive with myself and I desperately want to become all that God wants me to be. Thank you for this opportunity and I look forward to whatever God is going to challenge me with next, in our walk to eternity.
We must remain in Christ and then we will produce good fruit.
9 “Remain in my love.” Christ’s love is always there, it is infinite but it never changes despite our human sin.
12 Love each other. It seems like such a simple commandment but it takes a very conscious effort to do so.
16 Christ chose me. Wow. What an honor I have been given. I must always look up to Him and see all that He has done for me, just by calling my name.
18-25 Wow. This is so profound in this day. We as believers are being persecuted all across the world for our faith but we must remember Christ’s instructions and remain steadfast.
John 16
O wow. 2—that so greatly applies to those who are killing believers in Christ everywhere around the world. From the Taliban fighters to the plane bombers, we are being attacked, and we must be ready.
22 “…no one can rob you of that joy…” The joy we have been given through Christ is not an emotion, but an attitude that we should forever have. Even when sorrow arrives, we must remain in Christ and thus be joyful that there is something greater coming soon.

John 16:33b this verse gives me much hope.
John 17
All of this chapter inspires me! Father, please make me like you in prayer. I want to speak with passion, wisdom, love and humbleness as you do.
John 18
6-fell to the ground—-I have never heard that part of Jesus arrest before!
I love all of the details I have never read before that are included in this chapter!
John 19
Pilate believed that Jesus was innocent so he refused to be the one to murder Him and instead turned Him over to the people.
Jesus died on the day before Passover and was also buried in a tomb.
John 20
Peace be with you, Jesus is alive and He is coming again!!!!
27 “Don’t be faithless any longer. Believe!”
John 21
I love verse 25—If all the things that Jesus did were written down, the whole world could not contain the books that would be written.
It has been such a blessing and spiritual journey to read these books. I am very sad to be finished but I will never be finished. Reading the gospels has ignited a fire that has far too long been a flame. I have learned so much and cannot wait to see what I will learn next! Thank you for giving me this opportunity and being my silent accountability partner.
Okay so I managed to cram john into four days and it was pretty awesome. First, even though I’ve said it before, I’ve learned so much from the last four months. My mind has been blown, my actions have been changed, my bad habits have been replaced by good ones, I’ve grown as a christian and my life has been dramatically altered. When a problem rises I can quote the word of God and find a way to solve it, when I become angry I stop and forgive the person who did me wrong, When someone near me gossips I ask them to stop or walk away etc. (And I learned how to spell Pharisees) I am soooooooooo thankful to Tim for forcing this process on me. I needed this so bad and I have grown soooo much.
Service Project: My service project was amazing! My lifehouse and I went to the Family Church and fed dinner to the homeless. I got to see my whole lifehouse learn from the people there and also connect with them. It was a night of pure epicness.
John in the beginning: John 1:1-5 ” In the beginning there was the word. The word was with God, and the word was God. He was with God in the beginning. All things were made by him. In him there was life, and that life was the light of all people. The Light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overpowered it.” Wow. What an awesome way to start out a book. I really think they should put this up on a build board somewhere. Anyways, I like how John starts with John telling about Jesus before he actually gets to Jesus. It’s a nice change of pace. I also love how John focused on a select list of miracles that aren’t in the other gospels.
John in the middle: This whole book to me about the Pharisees trying to ruin Jesus and Jesus just showing them up every time. I love all the stories but if I had to choose one it would have to be the woman who was caught in adultery. When she was caught the Pharisees and teachers of the law brought her before Jesus and said “This woman has been caught in adultery. The law of Moses that she be stoned to death.” But instead of Jesus telling them to punish her he told them, “Whoever has never sinned once may throw the first stone.” Slowly they all started to leave because none of them were perfect. I’m not quite sure how to put my feelings toward this story into words but I’ll try with saying this: I think all of America needs to hear this story, over and over and over. They should learn it like they learned their ABC’s. I see people in my school all the time being judge by imperfect people and I can’t express how much I hate it. This is a story I’m gonna end up reciting.
John in the end:
1. John is the only book that tells you that Jesus’ followers didn’t quite believe him until passover. In fact John always bring up his followers not completely believing in him.
2. Jesus’ prayer in chapter 17 was epic and it almost made me cry. it makes me wish that I w=could say prayers like that (my prayers are a work in progress.)
3. I found it interesting that in John and only John they mention that they put a purple robe on Jesus(purple being the color symbolizing royalty “KING of the jews”
4. One part only in John is 19:21,22 “The leading priests said to Pilate ‘Don’t write, the king of the Jews. But write ‘this man said, ” I am king of the Jews.” ‘ Pilate answered “what I have written, I have written.” ‘ ” This whole time I thought Pilate was kind of a coward -which I still think he is- but at least he made a statement in the end which I still admire because it’s more then some one Jesus’ follows did during this time.
5. I did not know that if you were not dead some enough when you’re being crucified that the brake your legs. Owwwww. It made me start thinking about how when I think about Jesus being crucified sometimes it’s just what happened. But really this is the most painful death I have ever heard of which makes it all that more real.
6. JESUS HAS RISEN!!!! For the forth time! And I’m done!
Hey everybody! So this is my final blog!!! I finished reading John today and there were two or three stories that stuck out to me the most. The first was The Raising of Lazarus. This story really showed how much Mary and Martha believed in Jesus. And it was so amazing to me that Jesus could raise someone who had already been dead for FOUR DAYS!! This showed me that God can really do anything and nothing is impossible with him! The next one that stuck out to me was Jesus Promises the Hosy Spirit in chapter 14. It basically talked about how when we believe in Jesus that we are filled with the Holy Spirit. It talks about how since Jesus is gone the Holy Spirit will become our advocate. I really don’t know why this one stuck out to me so much but it was kind of reassuring that even though Jesus isn’t physically here on earth he is still here with us in our hearts. The final one that stuck out to me was The Work of the Holy Spirit in chapter 16. It talks again about how Jesus is going away and the Holy Spirit will pretty much take his place. It talks about how the Holy Spirit will be there to help us. It also talks about that the world will be convicted of the sin that it refuses to believe in Jesus. I guess I really liked this because to me the whole Holy Spirit thing was kind of confusing to me, but I think after reading this it is starting to make more sense. Well I’m so happy I finished reading!!! This has been a real eye opener to me about how truly amazing Jesus is!!!!
Love yall!!!
